So Jonas is now happily eating a TON of solid foods. We’re always doing two meals a day and occasionally we fit in a third. Since he still gets the majority of his nutritional needs from breastmilk (and will throughout his first year at least), a lot of our “meals” are more about the fun of experiencing flavors and textures. Just what does this little galloping gourmet love? As you already know, the kid ADORES bananas. 😉 But he hasn’t limited his palate, so he also enjoys:
- avocado
- sweet potato
- rice cereal
- oatmeal
- barley cereal
- squash
- peaches
- plums
- pears
- prunes
- applesauce
- whole-milk yogurt
- peas
- Gerber puffs
- biter biscuits
- Purely-Os (organic “cheerios”)
It’s a ton of fun to get his meals ready and watch him bang his spoon, cram it into his mouth, drop it a dozen times, smoosh and squash his food, blow raspberries, smack and chew and gum the food, and give me those big grins when he really loves the song-and-dance routine of the day. 😉 Some days he seems ravenous and other days he’s not really interested – but it’s still neat to see his reactions to new foods. He’s getting so big!!!
