One more week ’til Christmas!

Woo-hoo! The little chalkboard perched atop our microwave says “7 days until Christmas.” We can hardly wait! There is such a pile of gifts under the tree… now, unfortunately, a few of them are going to be mystery gifts because Jonas pulled off the nametags. We tried to reattach them all, but I have a suspicion that we mixed up at least two of them. I guess we’ll figure it out when we open ’em up!

Tonight after we put Jonas to bed, Chris and I made sugar cookies. It was the first time we’ve done this together, so we had a lot of fun –okay, and a few little squabbles about the right way to prepare the icing or roll the dough or whatever– but mostly fun. We tuned in to the local radio station that’s doing all Christmas, all the time, and we made three dozen cookies while we Rocked Around the Christmas Tree and Feliz Navidad’ed our hearts out. Chris took the simple approach – lots of sprinkles and chocolate chips. I took the elaborate route – lots of icing, in three separate colors. But they are all cute and they all taste good, so I guess both ways work.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
