Step 1: Research, research, research.

Step 2: Plan.

Step 3: Bake a 13×9 sheet cake.

Step 4: Cut into thirds; cut one third in halves.

Step 5: Whip up a pound of buttercream. Divide & conquer color.

Step 6: Crumb coat. (Chill 30-60 minutes).

Step 7: Frosting! Plus marshmallow halves.

Step 8: Begin assembly.

Step 9: Realize that the edges don’t quite add up because Mama’s not a math major. Cut the top piece to fit and re-do the crumb coat on cut edge. Wait another half-hour.

Step 10: Complete assembly.

Step 11: Knock socks off nearest six-year-old.
