Do you want the whole life story? I was born to Army parents in the Panama Canal Zone, and grew up all over the place while my Dad’s Army career advanced. My mom took an ‘early retirement’ from soldiering to homeschool my brother and me, a choice I’ll be forever grateful she made.
When Dad retired, we settled down in south Georgia. I got to attend one school for all of high school. I was an AP Scholar, a color guard marching band nerd, a budding photographer, and a First Baptist Church youth groupie.
I earned a full academic scholarship to a liberal arts college in the south, where I majored in Early Childhood Education. My sophomore year, I met a tall pre-med student and my world changed forever.
Chris and I started dating in October 1999, got engaged in February 2001, and were married in December 2001. (We were babies!)
For the next few years, I taught public school while he was in medical school. I worked in Georgia and Florida, in pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grade classrooms. Then, I earned National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2005.
Our son was born a few months before med school graduation; I came home from the classroom at the end of that school year. Our next baby, a daughter, was born during Chris’ surgical residency. Our youngest was born just one month after Chris entered private practice.
As if those three lovely human beings didn’t keep me busy enough, I’m also a proud dog mom to two Weimaraners. I serve in women’s ministry at my church, host a weekly Bible study in my home (or by Zoom during pandemic life), and write for Plain & Simple Bible Studies.
When it comes to fiction, I’ve paused in my querying trenches – but if you’re part of the #writingcommunity, I’m always up for talking craft and sharing stories!
What else? I’m a die-hard coffee fiend, and a total INFJ – so I’d love to correspond by email or DMs, just don’t expect me to make an actual (eep!) phone call.
