Hey there!

I'm Michelle.

I was born to Army parents in Balboa, Panama {Canal Zone} in 1980, and grew up all over the southeastern United States while my Dad’s Army career advanced. My mom took an ‘early retirement’ from soldiering to homeschool my brother and me, a choice I’ll be forever grateful she made.

Dad retired and we settled down in south Georgia when I was in middle school, and I attended one school for all of high school. I was an AP Scholar, a color guard marching band nerd, a budding photographer, and a First Baptist Church youth groupie.

I earned a Presidential Scholarship to a Baptist college in the south, where I majored in Early Childhood Education. My sophomore year, I met a tall pre-med student and my world changed forever. Chris and I started dating in October 1999, got engaged in February 2001, and were married in December 2001.

For the next few years, I taught elementary school while he was in medical school. I earned National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2005.

Our son Jonas was born a few months before Chris’ graduation; I came home from the classroom at the end of that school year. Our daughter Susannah was born Me with my babiesduring Chris’ surgical residency in 2009. Our youngest, Abigail, was born in 2011 just one month after Chris entered private practice.

Today, in addition to being the proud mama three lovely human beings, I’m also a writer. My current work-in-progress is in its first draft, and I’ll be stepping back into the world of agent queries this spring. Halp!

What else? I have difficulty saying the word “no,” so I’m a volunteer for a bunch of jobs around church and my kids’ school. I’m an Enneagram 6, die-hard coffee fiend, and a total INFJ – so I’d love to correspond by email or DMs, just don’t expect me to make an actual (eep!) phone call.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
