I took some very good advice the other day and gave myself a break. I bought the second stair gate and the wide gate (to separate the playroom from the office) and got them up, and now even though there are still a handful of boxes down here, this room is baby safe. I can come down here with Jonas and relax. In fact, this morning, we came down here with our drinks (milk for him, coffee for me!) and I watched a bit of news – and then I turned on Nick Jr. for Jonas and GOT. TO. TAKE. A. SHOWER. :-O I mean, I shaved my legs and everything. Can’t begin to tell you the wonders that does for my sanity and energy level.

I also took a break from painting – gave myself the evening off, you might say – watched a chick flick on TV, and (shock! amazement!) my enthusiasm for painting is back with a spring in its step. Look out, walls! 😉

Progress report on the painting, while I’m at it: downstairs is as done as it can be for now (I’d like to paint the beams in the ceiling, but I need Chris’ height & arms to do that job). Jonas’ room is *nearly* finished – the blue is done; I need to just touchup a few spots on the trim work and do another coat on the door. I have a feeling it will take a long time to dry though – we had rain this morning, and it’s still very cloudy and humid outside this afternoon. We won’t move Jonas in until the paint fumes are totally gone, so I’m betting he won’t be all settled in his room until Sunday at the earliest. I can NOT WAIT to get his room all arranged and decorated (and post pictures, natch). It feels like I’ve had the idea for that space for YEARS (well, since I planned it out while I was pregnant, I guess it has been about two years!) and now it is finally all coming together.

And now I’m going to enjoy some chocolate cookies and a Diet Coke (gotta love those 100 Calorie Snack Packs and the teeny tiny mini cans of soda. Having a snack this way is *so cute* and way better for me than sitting down with the box of cookies and overdoing it. What, am I the only one who does that!?)

We’re here! We’re here! Yay!

The cable guy just left, and I’m (obviously) back online. Don’t expect too much in the way of posts for the next few weeks, though, because there is SO. MUCH. TO. DO! Who has time for blogging? 😉

I’m working on a nice, long, catchup post to tell you all about the Moving Out Day drama. It was stressful and ridiculous. Then, I’ll tell you about the Moving In Day drama. It was much less stressful, but still taxed my nerves. After that, I’ll regale you with the tale of First Visit to Lowe’s As A Homeowner – and subsequent sobbing phone call to Chris when I realized my new power drill didn’t come with the bits. (Sounds funny, sure, but at the time it was a major tragedy.) Oh, and there’s the one about when I moved *everything we own* into the center of the family room to paint! That one is more fun than a barrel of monkeys! We’ll wrap up the series with Stupid Cable Guys and Women Who Need Them Anyway. Stay tuned…

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketLadies and Gentlemen, do not be alarmed at the sudden lack of internet-based communication from the Nebels. We are currently experiencing technical difficulties otherwise known as “moving-induced Internetectomy.” The experts have been consulted, and are in agreement that this condition will be easily remedied in 10-14 days. It’s a tough diagnosis to deal with, but we’re going to perservere and have faith in God and the Insight Cable Guy to help us through it.

See ya’ on the flip side.

My life is whelming right now. Is that a word? I know that I can be overwhelmed, I’ve been underwhelmed a few times. So is whelming just the part of the word that means things are happening, things are bubbling and brewing and moving along. (Not so much so that I can’t cope, as in over- and certainly not in such a way that I’m unimpressed and disappointed, as in under-…. just happening and rolling and moving. Whelming. Right?)

If you haven’t checked the ticker over there on the right, {go ahead… it’s the pink box} I’m moving in a week. A WEEK! Here’s how my week looks right now:
Friday: Pack.
Saturday: Chris on call. Pack.
Sunday: Chris postcall. Pack.
Monday: Chris off. I’m getting a pedicure and a blissful half hour of peace & quiet. Other than that, pack.
Tuesday: Chris on call. Pack
Wednesday: Chris postcall. Pack.
Thursday: Movers here to load up all our stuff. Friend Barbara may watch Jonas for part of the day. Start cleaning apartment.
Friday: Finish cleaning apartment. Turn in keys at apt office. Drive to Elsmere, Kentucky. First night in new house!

I have so much to do, and I don’t know if I have enough energy, time, and hands to keep up with Jonas and all this stuff. ‘Yikes’ does not begin to describe it. I’m so sorry for being a giant whiner. We are buying a house! We’ve been house-hunting in the Cincinnati area for several months, and last weekend we went up for 3 days and saw about a dozen homes with our realtor. After plenty of discussion, we settled on one and last night we drafted our offer. This afternoon, we found out that our offer was accepted! Closing is May 31 and we’ll move in June 15.

Here are a few pictures (mind you, this is their decor, not mine!) from the realtor’s website.

Hopefully it won’t be long until we have furniture in the living room again, and I promise I’ll do pictures of our new apartment as soon as it looks like we really live here 😉 but for now, at least we have this beautiful scene greeting us from the living room’s balcony every day:
