UFOs*

There’s the sampler quilt. Nine different six-inch blocks, entirely handsewn. It’s nearly finished – I just need to turn and stitch the tan border, and then decide whether or not to quilt the chain on the navy blue border, and then create a label and stitch it to the back, and then turn and stitch the hanging rod pocket, and then buy a hanging rod, and then hang it on the wall.

There’s the pair of Christmas aprons. I have the pattern and the fabric and all the notions except the right ribbon, and since I couldn’t find the ribbon, I never started cutting or sewing.

There’s the counted cross stitch of a beautiful home, with a list of all the places we’ve lived since we were married. It’s finished – except for adding Elsmere, Kentucky; and finishing the back with that thin opaque fabric (I don’t even know what that stuff is called!); and then framing it and hanging it up.

There’s the cross-stitch sampler I started for Jonas. There’s one more border of hearts to stitch. And then it, too, needs to be framed and hung.

There’s the printed cross-stitch about being a Grandmother. I bought it with my mom in mind, while I was pregnant with Jonas. I don’t like the way my stitches look on the fabric – you can still see the printing and it looks cheap and unfinished. I think there are about three roses (out of forty) done.

My albums for 1994-1998, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007 aren’t done. Originally, I would have said that 2001-2005 was covered – but I got on a Creative Memories kick and decided to redo my photos in “real” scrapbooks. Now I have a PowerSort box full of photos and mementos – and a lot of scrapping to do.

There’s the genealogy project. I have 12×12 scrapbook pages for family trees, ancestor charts, and family records. I still need an album, lots of information, and old “heritage” or “heirloom” photographs – or copies of old, heritage, heirloom photographs.

Let’s not forget the Journals. Innumerable, half-filled notebooks lie scattered around my drawers and boxes.

:::

What does all this say about me? I think it says that I’m an ambitious, creative, excited person who becomes enthusiastically involved in fun projects. It also says that I tend to be distractable, busy, and forgetful.

I have plenty of hobbies. I just don’t always have the time, energy, and money to do my hobbies! That’s what I want for my birthday this year — the time and the money to actually FINISH some of these projects. 🙂
