Day 2

Well, it wasn’t quite as idyllic as our first day. 🙂 Susannah only took a 45 minute nap, and I didn’t get to have my quiet time uninterrupted this morning…. but we finished all our schoolwork, and once again after lunch Jonas was asking for more. I really don’t want to push too many paper/pencil academic things at him, but I may need to brainstorm some more directed activities that he can work on in the afternoons. (In other words, if he’s just “playing” he doesn’t think of that as school. If I explain how to do an activity and he sits at the table –or on the floor or whatever– to complete it, then it’s “school stuff.”) Monday afternoon I ended up getting out a scrap board, some ginormous nails, and my hammer and letting him pound nails out in the backyard for a little while. That was fun, and since it was real materials I think he got a lot of satisfaction from it. And he didn’t even bang his fingers!
