Mom’s consult with the Gynecologic Oncologist apparently went very well. She said Dr Burke was personable and confident – both good things in a surgeon, just ask Chris! – and that he was optimistic about her surgery outcomes. He has patients participating in clinical trials right now, and thinks she may be a good candidate for some of those, which is an interesting idea.
Surgery is set for Tuesday the 20th at some time in the afternoon. [I have to say, because I live with a surgeon, that even if they had told her an ‘exact’ time like 2 p.m., I wouldn’t have expected it to be firm. I kinda like that they just gave her a time-window. Like the cable guy 😉 Excellent.]
I already went to Target in search of the perfect, comfy, post-op PJs for Mom. (Jonas picked pink-with-sock-monkeys, if you were wondering!) Next, I think I’ll be hitting up my local yarn store in a day or two. I’m looking for something supersoft (merino cashmere, anyone!?) in teal… the plan is to print off a cute knitting pattern and whip up a hat while Dad & I are in the surgery waiting room.
