Observations from my vast experience (all two days’ worth) of carpet removal and installation:
Hammering, stapling, and ripping on the second floor of a house is much louder than the same actions on the first floor, at least when you have a slab foundation.
The musical-chairs-game of shuffling furniture and decorations from one room into another while the work happens is frustrating and makes it impossible to get into one’s kitchen to prepare lunch.
Bedrooms are especially fun difficult, because in addition to pre-moving all breakables and miscellaneous little toys, all the bedding needs to be removed so that the workers can take the bed frames apart and then reassemble them later. Also: loft beds (and other specialty beds, like bunks or waterbeds) are outside the scope of our workers’ liability insurance so we had to disassemble that one ourselves. Yay.
New carpet smell is nice at first but, after a few hours, headache inducing.
