Work In Progress: The Novel Elevator Pitch

When I wrote my first novel manuscript, I really struggled with the idea of the elevator pitch. I just wrote 80,000 words and you want a two-sentence summary? C’mon! However, with each of my projects it’s gotten a little easier to create my pitch.

(The two-page synopsis is still the bane of my existence, though. Just sayin’.)

My current WIP is set in the early 1900’s in south Georgia and has a dual-POV. I really love these characters! As soon as I work out one little plot hole in the murky middle, I think this story will have the best potential of anything I’ve ever written.

The text of this novel elevator pitch says, "To save their reputations and protect their children, two women must hide the truth about the man who widowed them both. When Eugenia faces eviction and Lavinia faces a threat to her livelihood, they realize their only way to survive the threat of scandal is to work together."
